[Feedback] Leveling system (XP & challenges)
It would be pretty nice if there was more ways to gain XP other then challenges. Like from completing heists. Like in Payday 2 since i really liked the leveling system it has.

Mayro MergedThe whole challenge thing (at least from what I've heard, it also appears that I gained levels between play sessions) is not as good of an idea as it seems and it feels like an unnecessary extra step for something that wasn't an issue. The current method also seems to be having issues with syncing player progress with the game servers.

Jack MergedHalo infinite made the same mistake at launch too. Challenges are fine as long as performance based EX is also provided as with just challenges you can have a times where you dont get any xp at all for a full heist just because you didnt complete a challenge

Omlette MergedI think a combination of PD:TH and PD2 EXP systems would work best, you get exp from completing a mission, based on the difficulty and amount of bags you stole, as well as challenges to progress faster.

Harry Benson MergedIf the challenges are quite easy feats and dont force someone to play in a way they dont want to im cool wiht that but if you force a playstyle itll only end up being bad. like imagine being level locked because you refuse to use a specific set of weapons or something. thats just an extreme example but should be considered

Scar MergedI dislike the mastery challenge system I mean it's alright until it's not it's totally meant for completionists, we should get a set base xp from the heist and it forces us to not play our own way.

I spent 40m doing a stealth heist got literally no xp.
I spend 20m going loud get quite a bit of xp since the challenges are loud required.
To fix this I would much prefer for us to get some base xp for missions. -

Clarke MergedDon’t get me wrong I love payday, but I am extremely disappointed with the new leveling system as it feels like I am going to a job more than playing a game one improvement. I really would enjoy is if they could make leveling up not so heavily relied on challenges I just want to play the game enjoy it and I would like challenges to be something extra that I can do because yes challenges are fun but I do not want to have to do them every single time to keep leveling up I would like to be able to jump into a heist, similar to like I did in payday, too, and get experience for completing the heist not just for doing a challenge for example I was doing back to back this morning and I felt no accomplishment as I was not leveling up. I was only leveling up my guns and skills. I really hope they will take some time to read this and listen to the player. I still love Pay and I will still play it but I would really enjoy an improvement

robert Mergedwhile I am fine with challenges and what not I shouldn't be force to do them to level up and I do like payday a lot play a lot of payday 2 a back then and enjoyed it a lot.but I think it just not a great feeling doing a heist on payday 3 and not getting any xp or level up for doing the heist.i don't want to keep spending a lot of time a heist because of challenge that I keep messing up on to only get a little xp from doing the challenges for just trying to do one challenge and completing it.since level are tie to getting clothing, mask, gun etc. I hope you can find away to have us get xp without doing challenge only.

javya MergedHow the system is built currently how about adding daily challenges so we can get a level a day at least or something like that to help with progression a little.

God Emperor Pie MergedHeists should give scaling IP (xp) from heist completion based on completion like payday 2, just not the crazy high amounts payday 2 gave. Challenges should be like a bonus IP thing on top of IP gained from heist completion. The fact I cant just play my few favorites heists with my favorite loadout and not level up and be rewarded is very stupid.
1
Why must I be forced into using stuff I do not like, this is pure anti fun. People who want to try everything and use everything will do that, if I only like 2-3 guns let me enjoy them without being punished. And as for people that just want to grind one heist over and over maximizing IP gain, why stop them if that's what they want?
(I am at lvl 40 and the rest of the climb is now looking really daunting now that I have found my loadout and heists I like) -

IvoryF MergedChallenges are fun and can be rewarding to complete, but not as the sole way of gaining XP
At around level 50 even Stacked with other players it becomes unfun and grindy to even gain a single level and even worse as a solo where you might not even complete a challenge after 15-30 minutes depending on difficulty. I understand that higher levels are supposed to take longer but making XP challenge only goes against "everyone should be able to hit level 100, and levels 101-150 are for true grinders" for anyone who wants a more casual experience and doesn't want to play overkill with 3 other players -

Shim MergedI agree, you're currently punished doing objectives because your not killing/progressing challenges. I would also like to see some weekly reset challenges for huge IP points(maybe like a way to get an extra 400-500 a week). Maybe some daily's.

ShimAt the moment my biggest complaint is the progression, I like challenge based levelling however after 3 days of using it, I feel like it would be better as a hybrid system aka Challenges offer more exp however there is a base amount of exp(even if only like 60IP) per heist. This issue could also be alleviated by having daily/weekly challenges for bonus IP as long as they're not too obnoxious to do daily/weekly. I've had so many heists where players don't do objectives instead seeking out enemies for the challenges and we've wiped because they just won't do anything. Rewarding players for doing objectives would go a long way for the future of this game.

Wraithlord MergedIf you can complete a mission successfully but not get any XP for it, why bother playing? As much as you may want to think otherwise, gameplay alone is not going to be enough to keep players replaying. I know the first Payday had a similar system but it also had a pretty trash stealth completion options.
-

ToasterVouching against the daily mission idea, as this would just change but not solve the problem. I would rather propose separating the leveling system into cosmetical and gameplay content-related levels.
=> Cosmetical exp (infamy levels?) for completing challenges, and gameplay exp (heist level?) for completing heists and doing objectives there
Similar to the merged suggestions, being forced to complete challenges for any progress makes playing feel like a job or chore and isn't enjoyable long-term. -

MauiJim MergedThe biggest issue that I have, as soon as I figured it out, is that XP gain is only possible with challenges. This killed a ton of enthusiasm I have with the game. In order to level up not just rank, but weapons too, you do so by gaining experience. That means you HAVE to complete challenges to progress, potentially eliminating the freedom in how you play the game. There should be some incorporated XP gain from completing missions, based on kills, stealth, difficulty and total money secured.

Duifer MergedHaving XP only come from challenges takes all the fun away from the progression system. Perfecting a stealth mission to gain no XP at the end feels horrible.

Stefex1337 MergedIts okay to do challenges and achievments to earn decent or special stuff OR to get levels faster, but it sucks when I'm level 44, and I want to experiment on heists, earn money and do 10 heists in order to get, for example, 4 levels, but I cant because I need to do stupid challenges in order to level up. Yesterday I finished 15 heists in row, and didnt get even 1XP, I'm stuyck on level 44, and I don't like that system where you force me to do challenge in order toy get level...Imagine big payday fan and veteran, that, for example, works 8-12 hours and has private stuff. By normal play and grind he would be level 150 for example in 2 months, but he MUST do challenges, except do "that" heist X times, more of them are combat challenges based on specific things to do. He would spend 3 hours to get maybe 1 level...150 level would be impossible..PLEASE ADD NORMAL GRIND LIKE IN PD2...I did challenges when I was bored but I had max level..here I must to do have level, otherwise 0XP progress

Sol_3I only just realised that the XP system is based purely around challenges and I'm at level 57, that's how poorly the game explains this to you, and now I can see that I'm not getting any XP for playing and I'm incentivised to keep doing pointless things like using ECMs or placing microcams and restarting the heist for as many times as I can before getting bored and finishing the heist to claim the XP.
It's a seriously flawed system. -
22 Sep, '23
DuiferMan i wish i could vote it up multiple times, gaining 0 XP after doing a perfectly stealth heist feels so bad. It really takes the fun away
-

AustinPlayers had the same issue with Halo Infinite - a series that previously had match completion XP. There was no way to progress your season pass outside of challenges, and everyone hated being forced to play a certain way as the ONLY way. There's a time and place for challenges, and some people just want to enjoy their time without having to think in the back of their mind "I'm not progressing at all by playing the way I want/having fun" And that is very anti-player friendly. Please add match XP back.

MadoysPossible fix:
Give us exp until a limited level thru general heisting, making it possible for everyone unlock all guns and skill points, so that everyone gets to unlock gameplay stuff. After that, the only way to earn more infamy ranks is thru the completion of challenges, which will be all cosmetics.
Making it fair for the casuals and giving grinders a reason to continue completing challenges. -

Voodoo MergedKinda as the title says, i personally think that the challenges are good for post lvl 100 or 150(not sure of cap ATM) level gains, im not a fan that I have to do a heist X number of times on stealth for some challenge to level up. I think that there obviously needs to be stealth and loud only heists, but having 1.1k+ challenges in the game that serve as our only means of leveling seems bad. It takes away the feedback of completing a heist and seeing no XP gain.
Maybe have the challenges be a big boost of XP and you get a smaller baseline amount per heist competion (scaling with difficulty of course). But thats just my 2 cents on the current XP system in the game. -
23 Sep, '23
MaximumCookie MergedIt's very disheartening to do a well planned 30 minute heist only to get 0 xp for it. Relying on challenges is terrible and makes the progression very slow both for infamy levels and weapon unlocks. Heists should award a large chunk of XP scaling with difficulty as in Payday 2, with XP from challenges being a nice bonus if they happen to trigger.

Jermyz Mergedgaining levels in this game is painfully slow, I do not understand why at the end of a match you can still get 0 progression towards your player level. like just make it a set amount of IP you get at the end of the match depending on the difficulty, how long you`ve played, how many bags you secured as a team, and other stuff that will make sure you get a fair amount of IP instead of getting 0 at the end of a match

RainbowStapleI totally agree with the other commenters, whilst it is fun using a variety of guns and trying out all the missions in different ways, it definitely shouldn't be the ONLY way to level up. It should boost you quite a bit in level, but being able to complete a heist to a reward of 0 xp is very de-motivating.

Stefex1337 MergedIt would be way better to have level up system like in Payday The Heist and 2, where I get XP for cmpleting th eheist. It's okay to have challenges, so they can give you additional XP, so you an level up even faster. But doing 500 kills with "X" weapon, with "X" attachments, do 1 heist 10 times and other things, makes you play 2-3 hours to get 500 IP and to level up. Until level 44, you are casually playing and getting XP because whatever you do is challenge-based, later on I need to combine 4 different challenges , play game for 3-4 hours and get 1 level...It's kinda bad, especially for busy people that gets back home and wants to play...they would be level 100-150 in 1 year...I find myself eligible for this because I spent more than 500 hrs in PDTH and in PD2 i had 3k+, and I see a lot of veterans like me, that reporst same leveling issue.

24 Sep, '23
OlanovXP gain thru challenges, if anything, should only be on top of how much you'd get from a heist in general. The leveling system is completely whack, especially when content like guns got locked behind 'em.
-

Jim McJimmingtonI have a specific playstyle and the current leveling system forces me not to use it, which isn't enjoyable. Please allow leveling with all styles of play and not forcing players to using every style of play.
I just want to be able to heist and level like I did in Payday 2. -

Smeeds117Here's a better solution to the challenge system:
A) Have challenges give bonus XP
B) Have challenges give a bonus reward (mask color, weapon skin/animation, laser pointer/flash light color)
C) Implement a title system where we can wear titles above our heads that we obtain from completing certain challenges like "Master Locksmith" or "The Doctor" or "Dozer of Dozers" or "Server Stealer" (lol). -
24 Sep, '23
MattI agree with this. The game should offer XP regardless of playstyle. Don't force us into playing a certain way and unnaturally grind for something.

rippedwireYeah. It seems like the progression system is deeply flawed. The reasoning they gave for such a system is that they don't want players grinding the same heist repeatedly.
But why? Why is that a problem? As long as players like doing the mission and successfully complete it, they should be getting xp progression -

Mintless MergedRight now it feels like the whole game focuses around making helmets fly with all the different guns because of how most of the challenges that reward IP are "Kill x with y" quests. It feels more like a grindy MMORPG and not like a game that focuses on heisting and cleanly robbing places. I can pull off Gold&Shark cleanly with all bags only to be rewarded with no IP as I didn't finish any challenges. I personally play mostly stealth as that makes the game much more fun in my opinion only to not being able to progress my level as I don't want to shoot up every place, which as a solo is not even viable as the friendly AI is far to squishy anyways,
